Read Offsets
Hello!
Just started using Rip-
On detecting read offsets, I'm getting "Detected 0 possible read offsets" with a "suggested read offset:" of "unknown."
The only option allowed is 'Cancel'. Is this accurate?
Thanks!

Re: Read Offsets
Does this happen with more than one disc? Was the disc found in AccurateRip that you were determining the read offset with?

Re: Read Offsets
Happens with any disc that I've thrown at it so far...
If a check mark in the lower left hand corner with an "Accurate Rip" next to it means that its been successfully found in the DB, then they all have been found in Accurate Rip.
Unfortunately I'm moving so I've moved all of my unknown artist discs.

Re: Read Offsets
The check with AccurateRip next to it does mean the disc was found in the AR database.
What drive model do you have?

Re: Read Offsets
Have the same issue. Took XLD's info which is same as from other places 'round the web and entered it into Rip's prefs.
Re: Read Offsets
I also had problems reading the disc offset on my MacMini. XLD didn't have it either. Instead I found it on the AccurateRip website and entered it manually:
http://www.accuraterip.com/driveoffsets.htm
I have: PIONEER DVD-RW DVRTS08
The offset should be: +48

Re: Read Offsets
Where is the preferences for this? I don't see it in the obvious spots using 1.0b(10)Fuga wrote:Have the same issue. Took XLD's info which is same as from other places 'round the web and entered it into Rip's prefs.
Re: Read Offsets
Beta 10 couldn't find your drive offset? That is strange, because I use the Accurate Rip drive offset database, and that particular drive model is in there.humbleice wrote:I also had problems reading the disc offset on my MacMini. Re: Read Offsets
No, it does the following:sbooth wrote: Beta 10 couldn't find your drive offset? That is strange, because I use the Accurate Rip drive offset database, and that particular drive model is in there.
1) Extracting Audio
2) Calculating Possible Read Offsets
3) Detected 0 Possible Read Offsets
Suggested read offset: Unknown
The whole process takes less than 2 seconds

That is strange. You are using a PIONEER DVD-RW DVRTS08? Is that what the Info window reports in the Drive section?humbleice wrote: No, it does the following:

The read offset for “PIONEER DVD-RWsbooth wrote: That is strange. You are using a PIONEER DVD-RW DVRTS08? Is that what the Info window reports in the Drive section?
DVRTS08” is unknown. Would you like to
determine the drive's read offset now?
Re: Read Offsets
Oddly, I have had this issue with all applications that are supposed to detect read offsets.
I have an external Plextor and XLD correctly identified the offset. I haven't tried on RIP yet.
Also, how do I manually set the offset in RIP? I looked in the preferences and couldn't find the option.
Someone above said they had done it though (perhaps in a previous version?)

Re: Read Offsets
You can't manually set the read offset in the current beta (the option was removed from the preferences)- but it will be back in a different form in the next beta.
Re: Read Offsets
I've just released beta 11 which allows manual specification of the drive's read offset (File -> Set Read Offset).
