Can't reopen some (AIFF) files

whilst looking in Safari for some info to add, I left Tag open and with unsaved changes for... 10 minutes. then I finished editing tags and saved

now, when I try re-opening those files Tag says they're not valid AIFFs =:-0
but... they play just fine in iTunes, <s>Decibel</s>, Audirvana and both Max and XLD can open and transcode them

aaaarrrgghhh: I'm really, *seriously*, getting mad with Tag's quirks :-/
EDIT: (and... Decibel's!)

I can't believe it: it happened *again*, right now, with another CD. exactly as in previous report!!! :-/

only difference... this time artwork too became corrupted :-0
(not even touched the "artwork tab"!)
