What is Tag specifically?

Just what is Tag? A "metadata editor" seems rather ambiguous to me. Can it edit ID3 data?

A "metadata editor" seems rather ambiguous to me.

A "metadata editor" in the context of audio files edits the tags of an audio file (e.g., Artist, Title, Album, etc.).

Can it edit ID3 data?

No. It can only edit Vorbis comments (for FLAC and Ogg Vorbis files) and APEv2 tags (for Monkey's Audio and WavPack files). You can submit a feature request for ID3 tag support here.
