A name that you can remember...

I think you should go with a name that is easy to remember. One that is a slighty strange, but still seems meaningful.

I'm talking about combining words to create new ones. Take Apples laptop: power + book = powerbook.

They should be free as a domain name aswell :-)

Example:
audioparrot --> audio = what kind of tool this is + parrot = replicate stuff

Then you could create a fun looking parrot as a application logo aswell :-)

I agree with all that suggest MAX should be part of the name ....

What about simply MaxAudio?

It's generic.
It ties in the "audio" thing, which allows it to expand within the audio realm.
It's somewhat unique (try googling it. You'll get hits, but not as many as "MAX".)
Finally, you'll be able to expand your software suite with "MaxVideo", "MaxPhoto", "MaxLife", ...

Max is just too uninteresting. It's very nearly generic sounding. Haven't seen a good suggestion yet either, so I guess I am picky. I think maybe Max Trax would be good.
Or just Trax, Traxx.
AudioMax isn't bad.
True Tunes
Why the rush? Make it good.

MaxFidelity is my suggestion for the new name. It relates to the original Max name, and it is an evolution. Finally; it is also quite descriptive.

It is possible someone else out there is using it for something, but hopefully not for any computer software application.

:D

I like the idea of giving max a new name but I liked max.

True Tunes sounds good in my ears. But what a about "maxTunes". That means the maximum of tunes in a song, in an .aac file, in a .mp3 and especially in the losless .flac file.

It's a little "word play", like max payne :D

I had an idea for an icon, too. When you see this iTunes icon there is this CD with a tune. The tune looks very ... simplified. You know what I mean?
So I had the idea of make an icon with a very detailed tune.

Here is a "blue print" of that, looks very cheap but everything is only a brainstorm, right

Hope you like it ..

The major problem with "Max" is that there is already an audio application made by Cycling74 called "Max," which might pose a slight copyright problem, if not confusion for search engines.

My suggestion for a name would be something to do with "Cue," since, besides converting lossless files, will be one of the main "selling" points for this application (that is, if it will ever be sold). Something like:

"CueConvert"

"iCue" is a funny pun...maybe even current with all the "i" programs.

I don't think you can easily use "Mac" as a preface, but "MacCue" might be a possibility.

Changing name on a well established product/application is not a smart move. At least not in my opinion..
'Max' are soon running into its third (if we are not already in it), and have already became the de-facto CD ripper for Mac OS X. Changing the name to "Whatever" will only make people confused.

'Max' forever...
