So I am trying to convert multiple files from FLAC to ALAC and max keeps "quitting unexpectedly"
It works fine when I am converting to MP3..... and when I try to do a single file FLAC » ALAC it works fine too, but more than when MAX craps out

May be worth posting the crash log.

When Max crash you get a window where you can report back to Apple.
In one of its tabs there are a crash log. Which you copy and paste in here...

Or if you missed opening the crash log from the dialog: Either open Console application and select the Max crash log from the left column or go to the folder ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ and open the Max crash log. Post the typical log sequence of a crash following an attempt to convert multiple FLAC files to ALAC.
