Leopard and Max 0.8b r1328 CPU % Percentage

Post by balaclava9 »

i just upgraded to leopard on my mac pro with two xeons (4 core i think) i've right away noticed that photoshop is much faster with the upgrade. i upgraded to the unstable max (0.8b r 1328) and it worked like a charm. the only thing i noticed was this.

under 0.7.1 on tiger i could get up to using 387% or so as measured by activity monitor.
under 0.8b and os x 10.5.1 i "max" out at 200.9% or so as measured by activity monitor.
and it seemed a little slower.

one of my favorite features of max is it's blazing multi-core performance. just saying that i love the program, and i will enjoy it when it gets up to that hot max core % as before. i'm sure getting into the nitty-gritty of the new multi-threader is a project: maybe it does more for you now-- stuff you had to do yourself in 0.7.1 ... i have no idea, really.

good luck! love the prog! :D

In the preferences pane, under General, you have "Maximum Number of Encoders" set to 4? Or 2?
