Can't open Decibel

Suddenly last week won't open. "Quit unexpectedly" every time attempt to open. Tried in safe mode. Deleted Decibel, Rebought. still not working. Sent message to support. No response. HELP!
Mac 10.11.1 El Capitan

I have the same problem

El capitan - MacBook Pro (Retina, 15 tum, latet 2013) and my Mac mini

Decibel crash whenever I try to start the program!

same problem. Simply crashes as soon as I start it up. MacBook Pro with 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM under El Capitan! Don't want to re-buy it, but I probably need to find out how to re-install it.

Trash the app itself in /Applications.
In your user directories trash the Decibel folder in /Library/Application Support.
Also in ~/Library/Preferences trash the two org.sbooth.Decibel.* files.
Empty Trash.

(Optional? Log out/in? Shutdown/Restart?)

Download Decibel and enter licensing info.

Hope for the best.

I dowloaded the latest version. Alas, I replaced the earlier version and cannot activate the new version, leaving me with a version that will expire. I've tried to register using every username I can think of, but nothing works.

In short: As someone who has paid for Decibel, how can I register the new version?

If you purchased Decibel through the Mac App Store the direct download version of Decibel should recognize your app store receipt. However, Apple recently switched their Mac App Store signing certificate. This change precipitated these problems because of a previously undiscovered bug in Decibel's receipt validation code coupled with an app store caching bug (see http://www.computerworld.com/article/30 ... ew-up.html). The best thing to do is re-download Decibel from the app store which should install a new receipt which the new version of Decibel should validate correctly.

I recall buying it from Feisty Dog, and the app store offers to sell me a new copy, as opposed to saying that I already own the software. What do I do if I bought it from you?

If you purchased directly from me the new version (posted above) should work correctly and show as registered.

I purchased directly from you in November 2011, and got subsequent updates from the Mac App Store. I downloaded the beta version: 1.3.3, and it is Decibel-2. Opening it and it says it is not registered. I have tried to follow the instructions by copying the Receipts folder into the package contents. I have tried to rename the original Decibel to Decibel-1, and removed the -2 from the new one. No luck. It says not registered. And, I do not seem to have my key. I know my name, but there does not seem to be anything I can do. The old one (with the -1) will no longer run. Probably because the Application Support folder is not -1???? I don't know.

The MAS will only let me open the version, not re-download it. When I do open 1.3.3, and check for updates, it says it is the latest.

I am bummed......

The new version won't validate old MAS receipts because of the certificate change. I thought that re-downloading the app from the MAS would create a new receipt but apparently it doesn't necessarily. I've submitted 1.3.3 to Apple several days ago so hopefully it will be approved in the next few days.

You don't understand. The only option I have in the App store is to Open it. There is no Download link available. I have moved the copies (original, the MAS, and your beta) to the trash, thinking that would help. Now, clicking Open does NOTHING AT ALL.

On my Mac, trashing an app I've purchased from the MAS will change the "Open" button in the "Purchases" tab to "Install" once I quit and relaunch the App Store app. I assume you've emptied the trash (deleted all copies of Decibel) and quit and relaunched the App Store and the button still shows as "Open"?

Stephen,

I am still stuck with a soon to expire version of Decibel that I purchased from Feisty Dog (which BTW, I cannot update to 1.3.3 through the program). Please help me get a registered version. Going the App Store seems top require purchasing a new version since I didn't buy from them.

When I click Registration, I can see the key in faint type, but no user name I can think of works.
