CD Playback
CD Playback
I've noticed that while playing back CDs with Decibel, there is a pause and a small clicking noise when the player skips to the next track. This is not normally a problem, but for some CDs of classical/contemporary music there are a lot very small tracks for one piece, sometimes 20 or 30 seconds in length. With these discs the pause and click is a serious problem. Itunes does not pause excessively between tracks, though often a small click is audible. VLC does not make a click noise when the track changes, but there is a significant pause between tracks. Therefore I'm stuck using iTunes for such CDs.
Re: CD Playback
Since CD media is quite slow, the default buffer sizes are probably too small. If you make them larger as described in http://forums.sbooth.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=4743 does it help?
Re: CD Playback
thanks, everything seems to be working fine after doubling the buffer sizes. Occasionally I'll get a tiny artifact (barely noticeable) when the track changes, but now there is no pause between consecutive tracks so the rhythm is not messed up. Playing CDs in Decibel is now a much smoother experience for me than in iTunes or VLC.
