Can't change volume with Applescript

Post by Berthold » Mon Oct 10, 2011 4:15 pm

Hi,
I tried to change the volume with Applescript.

Code: Select all

tell application "Decibel"
    decreaseDeviceVolume
end tell
All these commands (increaseDeviceVolume, decreaseDeviceVolume, increaseDigitalVolume, decreaseDigitalVolume) have no effects.
How can I use these functions with Mac OS X 10.6.8?

Thanks for any help.

This was a bug in Decibel's .sdef file. I have fixed the bug and it will be included in the next bug fix release (1.2.5).

Thanks for the Bugfix.

For me are the steps for increasing or decreasing to big. In my environment it is not possible to adjust the outputlevel to a gentle sound with applescript.
I had to adjust the level with the mouse. I would be great when you make these steps configurable with applescript.

Then I have problems to understand the concept of changing the outputlevel.
Normally I want an output without any changing of the data from the CD.
What is the best way to do this.
Replay Gain - off
Digital Volume 1
Device Volume 1
In this Situation I change the volume with my amplifier.

When i want to have the best audio quality what's the best way to change the volume with Decibel?
Digital Volume or Device Volume - what's the Difference?
Do i need the replay gain for best quality???

Thanks for further informations
