Last.fm PluginProblems

Post by Lyr » Wed May 18, 2011 8:24 am

Hi!

Really thx for the last massive Update!, many of my wishes were fulfilled. Nice work! Happy and really enjoy to see that your cool player getting better and better! :)

But i have a problem with the last.fm-plugin. In my profile, i can just see which title i play at the moment. After (that moment,f.i. when i shut down decibel, or next day) it isnt listed in my Profile/statistic. Thats the clue of last.fm, to see what you hearded last days/month/years....
Is this something with a plugin or have i made something wrong(i cant see what)... ?

cheers jan

There are two Last.fm events for each track- the first occurs when the track starts playing and your Last.fm "now playing" should be updated. This is indicated by the status at the bottom of the window saying "Last.fm now playing updated'. The next event occurs after the track finishes playing, which is the actual scrobble to your Last.fm library. This will be indicated by the status "XXX successfully scrobbled". Are you seeing both of these status updates?

thats interesting, i got this status-message (and only the first:"Last.fm now playing updated") only when i start a track by double-click with the mouse, at the end of the track, no status-message and ALSO when the next track begins no message.
Only when i double-click a new track the status "Last.fm now playing updated" comes again.

Last.fm has only the first track of a album (or the song which I started with doubleclick last) on my list with the status: "playing" and after a while it disappear.

ok, now i tried to reinstall the last.fm- plugin, but after deleting it in my last.fm-profile i couldnt connect with decibel again. The configure button in the preferences of decibel didnt work.
Can you help me? Maybe a new connection/upload of the plugin helps with the problem at all.

One thing you can try is deleting the ~/Library/Preferences/org.sbooth.Decibel.Plugin.Scrobbler.plist file. That will reset any pending scrobbles which seems to help on occasion.

Hi

an update, i found the file you mentioned. sorry that i didnt before.
but the deletion brought nothing. :(
When i switch on the plugin at the preferences, he ask me something like "Decibel wants to use confidentially Informations, which a saved in your bunch of keys under "org.sbooth.Decibel.PlugIn.Scrobbler"" (thats my translation from german)
When i say "yes" the file is there again, but no connection with last.fm...

I think one problem is, that i deleted the app in my last.fm account, in the hope that it will be reinstalled by Decibel, but that didnt happen and now the app-part in the preferences of my last.fm-account is empty

The configure button at decibel for the last.fm-plugin dont work.

please help!!! :?

jan

edit: the content of the file org.sbooth.Decibel.PlugIn.Scrobbler.plist is only

Code: Select all

The "confidential information" is a Last.fm authentication token that Decibel obtains from Last.fm and is stored in your Keychain. Since you deleted Decibel from your Last.fm account, try running Keychain and deleting the org.sbooth.Decibel.Plugin.Scrobbler password. Once that is done, Decibel should ask about re-authenticating with Last.fm.

yes that works for the re-authenticating with Last.fm but unfortunately nothing changed with my problem
first status submitted but nothing else thereafter

have nobody else this problem?
i have Little Snitch running, maybe thats the problem. But i open everything for Decibel and also tried to stop Little Snitch at all... nothing works :(

I'm having this exact same problem. The first song that I play shows up in my profile as "Now playing", but no songs are ever scrobbled.

I turned on the log in Decibel, and saw a few errors in there:

Code: Select all

I tried attaching the entire log here, but it wasn't allowed.

I have a feeling it is a "Invalid signature" error. It's strange, because scrobbling works for me but I've seen that error periodically, particularly when trying to scrobble multiple tracks at once. I'll continue to investigate what the problem might be.

Same thing here: I get a "updating now playing" notification of the first track, but that's it. No tracks get scrobbled. I've made a log while playing 1 album. You can find it here:http://dl.dropbox.com/u/629150/Decibel.log if it's of any use.

now, last.fm stats shows me some (but not all) songs that i played yesterday... strange!!?? :(
seems that the transmission has very low priority, or is blocked by something else?
