I'm about to use a ripping service for a large batch (over 3,000) CDs. They can supply FLAC, but not Apple Lossless.
If I use MAX to convert to Apple Lossless am I losing anything at all? They have done a test, and after some tweaking of their process, I'm getting the tags correctly when I do the conversion, and to the naked ear everything sounds fine.
Is there a way to test whether the result is perfect? For example compare a direct Apple Lossless rip file within one transcoded from FLAC to be sure it's bit perfect.

And you're going to AppleLossless why?

You can calculate the MD5 sum of the Apple Lossless audio and compare it to the MD5 of the FLAC, and if they match it is safe to assume no data was lost.
