FLAC to mp3 conversion problem
When I try to convert 96KHz/24 bit FLAC files to mp3, I get "white noise" files as a result of the conversions. Is it necessary to first downsample the source files to 44KHz/16 bit format using some other software before using Max to convert to mp3?
Re: FLAC to mp3 conversion problem
No, it isn't necessary to downsample. What version of Max are you using?

I'm using version 0.7.1
Re: FLAC to mp3 conversion problem
Please try the latest unstable build of Max and see if it works (after deleting your preferences). I fixed numerous bugs related to > 16 bit audio since then and hopefully this is one of them! I tried converting a 24/48 FLAC to MP3 and it worked fine on my PowerBook.

Re: FLAC to mp3 conversion problem
I tried the latest unstable version from the website (after deleting the prefs file) converting a 96KHz/24 bit FLAC file to mp3 using the "Best" setting and got the same result as before -> "white noise".
I'm running a MacPro 2.66 quad core with Leopard 10.5.2 and the latest Apple updates.
Thanks, Ophelia

Maybe it's an Intel thing, I will take a closer look.
