ape to apple lossless - with tags?

Post by dknightd »

Is it possible to convert from ape to ale and retain tags?
Near as I can tell the file gets converted fine, but all tags get lost.
I'd be happy with just name, artist, album, year.
Anything else would be a nice bonus.

Thanks

The tags should make it through the conversion. Do you see metadata when you drag APE files into the File Conversion window?

No. The metadata never shows up. Maybe the file does not have any afterall???

I'll try a few experiments and see if I can narrow it down.

Thanks

You can try opening the file in question with Tag to see what metadata it contains.

The tags convert fine but not the cover art. It is not detected in when dragging the file onto the conversion window although the cover art is internal. Is there a solution to this?

I haven't run into APE files with embedded cover art. Can you send me a sample file to take a look at?
