Hi,
I'm trying to import a large music collection (+24000 files). Getting the library up to date takes about 1 hour. Play is mostly unresponsive of this and the progressbar also doesn't show any usefull action. Are there any plans on improving the file handling mechanisms to improve performance on large collections?
Kind regards,

Large music collection
Re: Large music collection
Yes, I am interested in improving the performance. Can you provide more details on your collection? Specifically, the type of files and their (rough) organization on disk?
Re: Large music collection
Hi,
I thought I had added all music, but I had added only the sorted part (18000 files). Adding the Unsorted afterwards made Play never come back from the "adding music" sheet.
The structure in my music is as follows:
/
Sorted
Albums
0-K
0-9
A
<artist>
<year> - <album>
or: (single disc album)
<tracknr> - <title>.ext
or: (multidisc album)
CD <CD nr>
<tracknr> - <title>.ext
B
.
K
L-Z
L
.
Z
Compilations
<genre>
<year> - <album>
CD <CD nr>
<track nr> - <artist> - <titel>.ext
An example would be Sorted/0-K/A/Arena/1996 - Immortal?/06 - Moviedrome.flac
Qua statistics:
45% mp3
47% flac
6% ogg
Anything else you need to know?

Hmm, indentation is lost.
If it's not clear, please let me know, I'll try it another way.
