Re: What formats does Decibel playback?

See https://github.com/sbooth/SFBAudioEngine and scroll down to the ReadMe. I would expect this would constitute the list.

Re: Formats Tab in preferences will not open

Is there something else I should be doing? Posting in the Max forum would be one good idea. Searching the Max forum would be another; this is an old, well-known issue. http://forums.sbooth.org/search.php?keywords=%2Bformats+%2Btab+%2Bpreferences&terms=all&author=&fid%5B%5D=4&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk...

Re: Automate MAX

Yes, but one must resort to GUI scripting quite a bit of the time. Examples:

A possibly useful script

Here's a script I just wrote that automates an annoying procedure in Max. Let's say you've opened a bunch of CUE files in Max and now you want to convert all tracks of all the cue files. Click Select All, click Convert, close the window. Click Select All, click Convert, close the window. Ad nauseam....

when is 40 hours not 40 hours

Decibel's trial mode is apparently simply subtracting the time between launch and quit in deciding when 40 hours is up. If so, then if you launch Decibel and then sleep the computer for 40 hours, that's your 40 hours gone, even though you never used Decibel. This seems unfair. Actual uptime would be...

Re: Join files?

Typically I have a bunch of FLAC files which actually are mixed together, so a gapless playback would be preferable in all players. I want to merge them and encode to mp3 variable Actually I've just discovered that XLD can do this: put all the FLAC files in a folder together and then choose Open Fo...

Re: unwanted pauses in middle of tracks

Well, this is with the buffers already doubled as described in that post. Sure, I could try doubling them again. But really, if the source of the problem is that the buffers do not ship large enough for practical use, then Decibel's own internal defaults should be changed.

Re: Any way to adjust the time between tracks?

Rip to a single file (with accompanying CUE); that gives you a reproduction of the CD plus track information. If you convert from there, you'll get gapless tracks.

Re: 24bit AIF to FLAC encoder question

Just by changing the Compression Rate (0 – 8), some to me mysterious boxes will be checked /unchecked, so I am unsure which effect they have on the resulting file. I was wondering which settings you will recommend in order to shrink down the file size without any changes to the original material? A...

unwanted pauses in middle of tracks

What I'm finding is that Decibel still pauses in the middle of a track sometimes, as if it needed to gather up more info from disk. I can work around this by playing only a few small tracks and setting "Load files in memory", but I feel I shouldn't have to do this (and if my files are many and large...

Re: Split Cue file with proper filenames

I also noticed that the cue and the file is in flac and during split its being converted to alac. I don't know what it's being converted to in the movie, but I started with a flac because in some of your earlier messages you said things like "I have no idea why i am not able to split a FLAC file fr...

Re: Where did all the preference settings go?

On my machine pressing Command-B shows and hides the toolbar in the Preferences window. This might work even if you've no lozenge button.

Re: Cue Sheets??

Why would a user do this Some users prefer to leave the CD intact rather than dividing it into separate track files when ripping. But it's still nice to have complete track info (title, performer, etc.) for each track. It's like a CD plus a "table of contents". And then if you also transcode to com...
