You might give xACT a try (It seems to require Mac OS X 10.3 or higher).

I have never used it though.

I compile and share trunk builds from SVN at a regular basis.
Just take a look in the Development forum. ;)

Please report back if it is still a problem.

I have put up the latest SVN version, with MusePack decoding support.

Perhaps some of you MusePack users can give it a test?

Two suggestions:
1. Try the latest nightly build: http://sbooth.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=258
2. Start from scratch with new settings (search and delete the org.sbooth.Max.plist file)

Wow! That is a major performance hit! Then there must be a simpler and faster way to circumvent the driver cache. But getting there might be hard, since there are so limited documentation and knowledge about it. Stephen. Have you been in contact with Andre Wiethoff (the EAC developer), to he...

I say, keep the Max name.
* Most users, including me, like it.
* The Max name have been established. And are connected to "The" CD ripper for Mac OS X.

danpritts. Max already have the ability to rip your CD to WAVE files.
But afaik WAVE files don't support tagging, so you will need to do this manually after encoding to a different format.

Seems to be working fine.
The "Same as source file" setting work fine as well. It follow what I set in the 'File Conversion' window, regardless of the settings in Preferences.

Thanks a lot! :)

Revision 762 seem to have a bug in the File Conversion process.
I drop a M3 or ALAC file into the window, set output to any format (LAME or ALAC) and press OK. The conversion window pop up and do its job, but the encoder window never opens after this.
A regression from the 762 checkin maybe?

mieler217 & Fuga. I found this information in the MP3SettingsSheet.m file (source code). First I want to say that this is WAY above my knowledge level. But I like to place a comment anyway... What I want is a secure way to rip scratched CD's. A ripper which is on par with the MS Windows application EAC (Exact Audio Copy). I really don't know what "magic" it perform on the ripped data, b...

It might not be on par with EAC when it comes to secure ripping, yet. But it is better than cdparanoia and iTunes, which pretty much are the only alternatives on Mac OS X. Regarding LAME 3.96. You would need to build Mac from source. But first you have to build LAME 3.96 as a framework. I don't see ...
