OK, this is even better. Could you try both these sets of tracks on your iPod? Is the upper case one completely gapless?

Thanks!

I wonder if the iPod is case sensitive for this atom and iTunes is not. :? Could you create the files from the same source again but this time with XLD instead of Max please? Or perhaps you could change the few lower-case characters to upper-case with a Hex-editor? That would rule out the case diffe...

Interesting stuff. Could you post the complete content of iTunSMPB in those files? It should be more like this: 00000000 00000840 0000037c 00000000 00f1d844 00000000 00000000 00 In the mean time I'll try and find files with a difference between iTunes and Max. As I wrote earlier, I haven't seen one ...

Thanks for testing this. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to get my hands on a 5G iPod. I'm going to do some tests with a Nano soon though. The fact that ALAC plays gapless is not very surprising, due to their nature lossless files generally don't suffer from gaps. I'm not sure (since I don'...

Just playing with FLAC 1.1.3 in build 1077 and it looks good. Some notes: * Josh increased the default padding to 8KB for shorter files and 64KB for files longer than 20min. 4KB was considered a bit small and with the added possibilities of artwork and lyrics it must be even less sufficient. You may...

I've been thinking, fixing this issue might be easier with metadata, and even if it isn't it may still be worth considering: Store the filename (minus the extension) of the original file lacking metadata in the Title field of the output file. Pros: * Filename is usually the only source of info about...

That is strange. Since there is no difference between the gapless data produced by Max and by iTunes it shouldn't sound different. If you let Max convert the FLAC files to Wav and then let iTunes convert the Wav's into AAC does it play perfectly gapless on the iPod? What type of iPod is this? Which ...

The one thing I'm not sure about is what the encoder delay value should be. I use 0x840 because that is what XLD uses. To be honest, I'm not even sure what encoder delay is. I need to do some research. OK, something fell through and I had two hours to fill with just my laptop and no Internet. I tak...

If I'm correct Stephen is getting ready to get 0.7 out. To test the update mechanism it was already set to this update. You are using an 'unstable' build made for testing purposes so things like things can happen. However, It's not out yet so I'm afraid you'll just have to press 'Install update' onc...

Another thing, according to a post made by Josh Coalson on HA.org the only documentation of 1.1.3 is in the CVS right now. If you want to have a look at which API changes might effect Max you'll have to do a complete CVS checkout.

Regarding the regression of this optimization error, I've noticed it doesn't appear to create the temp file at all. No issues with copying it this time and therefore no corresponding error warnings. Watching the temp folder shows no sign of a temp file being created and even setting temp-dir to a re...

FLAC 1.1.3

I've got the feeling (thx to Sparkle) you're getting ready for a new stable version of Max.

I just wanted to make sure you are aware FLAC 1.1.3 will probably be out any time now. It may be worth waiting for it...

Thanks for introducing this gapless scheme in Max! :) I'll have a further look to see if I can find anything strange happening in the optimization process. As for encoder delay, surprisingly, Wikipedia has a nice article with some basic background information. Because encoder delay is a result of th...
