Re: Music Brainz CDDB Problems ...

This looks similar to issue 000367 currently in the tracker.

Re: Lossless CD archiving

I suppose that is one way of looking at it, and yet I don't think that there's any doubt that we experience a CD as a collection of tracks (with certain exceptions). I am quite happy with that idea that my music is now 'track based' rather than 'CD based'. Indeed, that was part of the reason why I ...

Re: Lossless CD archiving

I just purchased a 1 TB external drive and I plan on re-ripping all my CDs to FLAC so I can have a lossless archive of all my discs. I'm on the fence as far as whether I will rip each disc to a single file with a cue sheet, or rip each track to a separate file. I can see pros and cons of each appro...

Re: FLAC+cue: wooohooo...

The problem is that FLAC cue sheets don't support metadata; they are basically just a CD's table of contents. Yes, and no one is suggesting that the format should be perverted... So there is no real way to extract per-track metadata from such a FLAC file. Maybe a feature to lookup multiple files in...

FLAC+cue: wooohooo...

Now that r1036 has replaced r1033, I have had the pleasure to try the new FLAC+cue feature. So I fed my 936 FLAC album images to Play, and in a few seconds it added 14,787 individual tracks to the library. They play fine, gapless, and all. It's a giant step. Of course, for the time being, they are a...

Re: Expected behavior for FLAC embedded cue sheets

I've gotten playback working for FLAC files with embedded cue sheets That's really quite exciting news. What do users expect when editing properties for a track that is part of a larger file? The best, what else ? :) In my opinion writing anything track-specific to the original file is bad, ... Cer...

Re: Data appended to some MP3 track titles

I checked again using the latest iTunes version (7.3.1). It seems that the bug has been corrected.

Are those titles especially long ? I mean longer than, say, 128 characters ? The shortest title is 56 characters and the longest is 110 characters. Strange. I have seen this happening, but only with tracks whose tiltle was longer than 128 bytes. 128 bytes, not 128 characters : if you use characters...

Why, after ripping/encoding a 21-track CD with Max 0.7.1 and adding it to iTunes 7.2, are 3 of the tracks missing track numbers plus additional data from Max is appended to each of the 3 track titles?

I doubt there are many users who want or need this. I have not the slightest idea what all the different settings are or do and, frankly, I am not even interested to learn what the settings do. Yes, is it really the Most Wanted Feature ? My personal preference would be for Play to be able to handle...

The lack of a detailed log -- particularly an easy to read one like xACT outputs -- is the only thing that is holding Max back from being THE Mac standard. Which proves that each one has his own idea of what's missing to make some software 'perfect'. My choice for Max would be to be able to recover...

The best solution is something that has been on the drawing board for a long time: cue sheet support in Max. This way, you rip to a single file and then convert to whatever format you want. What I have been referring to as 'virtual CD handling' ? That will be very nice when it will come, of course....

Wouldn't that be verging on overkill? Well, the border between convenience and overkill.... Max already allows one to produce several encodings from one reading of the disc, a remarquable and probably unique feature. Allowing some of those encodings to be single file, and others to be multifile, se...

Feature idea: simultaneous single/multifile ripping

One of the nice feature of Max is that it allows one to produce several encodings of the same disc in a single operation. Unfortunataley, the choice between producing a single file for the complete disc, or a file for each track, is at the extraction level, and not at the encoding level. It would ma...
