Re: current status of gapless AAC in MAX

Before I decided to make an ALAC copy of my FLAC library using Max, I read the forums here and had enough doubt in my mind about using Max to encoded AAC files for iTunes that I simply used Max to make the ALAC files, then added them to iTunes and let iTunes take care of the encoding to AAC. Using i...

Re: FLAC Album Art not encoded

If you have a read through this forum, you'll find other posts dealing with the subject of adding album art with Max. Since the process isn't totally automatic, and you have iTunes-compatible files (MP3), I would think it would be quite an easy matter to just add the MP3s to iTunes and manually add ...

Re: FLAC converted files won't play on AirTunes

Just to be clear, Max has several separate AAC encoders listed in the application's available output formats. You should be using the first of two MPEG4 Audio entries, with the extension M4A. Can you confirm that this is what you've used to transcode your files?

Re: aac in iTunes

Despite what you've read in iTunes' Help, iTunes will indeed play AAC files encoded with other programs. In fact, nearly all of the AAC files I have ever played in iTunes have been encoded with Nero on a Windows machine, and they not only play back perfectly, but iTunes doesn't even need to scan the...

Re: Next update to Max 0.7.1?

It's interesting to read what other people's experiences have been with Core Audio in terms of encoding speed. I just transcoded 155 GB of FLACs to ALAC on my PC (AMD Duron 2 GHz) with dBpoweramp Music Converter, and including file verification, the whole batch conversion went VERY quickly. I have t...

Re: Really need help with the .cue sheets

When ripping a CD to individual tracks, there really isn't much point that I can see in generating a CUE sheet for the album. The primary purpose of CUE sheets is to enable single-file albums to be burned properly as multi-track audio CDs.

Encoder: encode album to single file

Feature request:

Would it be possible to add the ability for the encoder to select a range already encoded files (an album) and output them to a single file + CUE sheet? The ripper can do this already, but the encoder can't.

This would be useful in a zillion ways.

CUE to XML (for Chapter Tool)

In trying out a few new ways to create album images with chapters for use in iTunes and on my iPod, I realized that Max reads CUE sheets very nicely. However, it won't mount the images (WAV files) corresponding to the CUE sheets. Does this matter? Hmm... I think that it would be extremely useful if ...

The solution for me was to thoroughly evaluate all the optical drives I have at my disposal. Fortunately, I had a few to work with. I ended up taking the NEC ND-3500AG out of my PC and installing it in my PowerMac G4. The drive does NOT cache audio data, has a read offset of only +48 samples, has ac...

Ripper log files

I just want to comment that I've been testing both the paranoia and Comparison rippers and generating log files of the ripping activity, but the log files don't seem to include any useful or even remotely conclusive information. I realize that (more) secure ripping is a development priority at the m...

Drive offsets

On the subject of drive offsets, I would love to see the same functionality and behavior as that in foobar2000 0.9.x. Adding this into the Ripper preferences would seem logical, and it would suit me fine if users would be on their own to determine whether 1) their drives support Accurate Stream, and...
