herman,

One of us is confused.

I rip to both FLAC and AAC.
FLAC for long term storage of music.
AAC for playing in iTunes.

I then put the CD into (literally) cold dark storage (in my wine cellar).

herman,

I would not chose Apple Lossless. I would chose FLAC for my lossless format as it is open source.

I thought about this issue for a few months before I started ripping.
I now rip to FLAC (and AAC for iTunes) for long-term archival storage.

Dan,

You need to go into Preferences and select ONLY those formats that you want.

Maz has some default output formats and you need to remove those.

Yes.

I name all of my covers as: Front Cover - Album Name.filetype

Other images get other names, obviuosly.

Stephen,

Do not waste energy on creating a player.

Apple makes a great one called iTunes.

iTunes

Boost, I actually don't play FLAC files. Well, I do check one or two per album using Cog. I use Max to rip/encode to FLAC and AAC (.m4a, quality=max, bitrate=256 kbps) simultaneously. I then save these in a folder: 1. FLAC files 2. Artwork, album cover as JPEG 3. Liner Notes, as text file 4. Lyrics,...

Baby, one more time

PART 1 (06APR2006) I just tried to rip Britney Spear's "...baby one more time" CD. Copyright 1999. Not marked as "enhanced", but does contain a data track. Max failed (i.e., froze at 82%) on the penultimate track (i.e., that last music track). I have two (2) complaints: 1. Why does Max freeze? 2. Wh...

Frank, What Shane implied with his question is: If you have the latest version, then clicking on Help should display of pop-up window with some help. I understand your frustration as Max is not as intuitive as Stephen thinks it is. However, you only have to use it once and the operation becomes clea...

Guest said it very well.

I am using Max because:
1. I want the best possible rips.
2. I want to rip to FLAC.

Max with EAC's algorithms would be the ultimate product.

Yes, change the name

Halcyone (from Greek mythology). The real question is: Should the name of this product reflect what is does or should the name have zero mnemonic value? Max = MAc os X audio solution. Banana = whatever I want it to mean Also, you can't get max.com, but you can get halcyone.com This doesn't mean that...
