Re: more Log thoughts...

While it won't be until v9 this "issue" is being addressed. http://trac.sbooth.org/Max/ticket/22 I feel relatively confident the result will be what we want. I am holding off ripping everything until then. Well, there have been a few I have done everything with Max but just as many I have still use...

more Log thoughts...

Been doing some Max ripping today - must say I just love this app! But I'm still frustrated by the limited Log output. I ripped a CD with Max that was yielding errors when ripped with xACT. Although the Max LOG shows the rip and encode were 'completed' there is nothing addressing if any problems wer...

Re: FLAC with Log and CUE -- like EAC

ah, the age old question...

anyway, to generate a cue with xACT: shntool/drag files to window/cue radio button/call shntool

Max is so darn pretty - I just wish it could pop out an xACT-like LOG!

Re: Secure ripping

While I anxiously await the day Max has perfected secure extraction and can generate a useful LOG, I follow these steps using xACT:

FWIW, security-wise, this scheme also seems to satisfy most EAC users.

S. Booth - S. Brown Collaboration?

Any thought ever given to MAX combining with xACT?
Secure Encoding, LOG output, Filenames via iTunes-OSX database, all in a beautiful GUI with timely (eg, FLAC 114) updates. You guys would make one heck of a team.
I'd be first in line to pay! ;-)

Re: finder, toast, itunes and Max

(I would never think of using iTunes to rip CDs -- that's an odd idea in my mind and I cannot understand why people would want to compare that with ripping via Max (iTunes isn't good for anything but organizing compressed music and feeding iPods).) in defense of iTunes, quality LAME rips can be eas...

Here are my top 3 (4 if you count the .cue bit) wishes: 1) Secure Rip (a *must* as far as I can see). 2) Concise Log output that includes verification info (dZp said it well): One thing that would be nice is to have Max automatically generate a log file that is similar in style to what EAC spits out...

cue-splitter has a slick interface, might be worth a look:

Big Thanks, Stephen - just finished my virgin rip with new secure ripper (v0.6) - excellent results - this is very exciting! I'd like to second dZp's request for an EAC-esque log output: Track 1 Filename ~ 01 - One.wav Pre-gap length 0:00:02.00 Peak level 100.0 % Track quality 100.0 % Test CRC E003D...

an excellent suggestion, pianomaster - an option for accessing the on-board CD database (whatever it's called) once mac/itunes calls CDDB would be swell - I dislike the often goofy info from freedb, too. BTW, Max is coming along superbly, Stephen - sincere thanks for all of your excellent work! We d...

thanks, chronic - I did manage to muddle through - the steps are just as you recall.
fwiw, I was able to split the single flac into individual flac files with no problem (xAct 1.56) by simply selecting FLAC as the 'output format' in the shntool window.
Thanks for chiming in! :P

.cue flac -> CD?

OK, I have one big FLAC file (instead of individual tracks) and the .cue file. What is the easiest route to use the .cue to separate the tracks and burn the CD. Have Max, Toast 702 and xAct at my disposal. I recall doing this once a while back (with a big .ape) - had to trim the first few lines of t...
