Re: Clicks after conversion from APE to Apple lossless

1) The file size is different.
2) I use a little tool called MD5 to compare the files.

Strange that it only occurs with wav. Maybe my test setup is faulty, can someone reproduce?

Re: Clicks after conversion from APE to Apple lossless

When converting a lossless file into another lossless codes and then back, shouldn't it be the same original file? I found out the following (using latest Max): 1) APE to FLAC to APE: identical files 2) APE to WAV to APE: non identical files 3) APE to m4a to APE: identical files Why wav is different...

I have to get my hands first on my APE backup set which is stored outside of the house. Will report back.

Steve, how do you think, those clicks can get inserted in the file? Thanks, Wolf

That's quite shocking. You would assume a lossless to lossless conversion whitout any glitch.

Clicks after conversion from APE to Apple lossless

I recently converted a lot of files from monkey audio (APE, lossless) to Apple lossless (m4a) with MAX. After the conversion I have noticed "clicks" (like dust on a vinyl!) on quite a few music files. A absurd as it may sound, but could it be that in the course of the conversion process from lossles...

Hmm, I just think there must be a reason why Stephen lets the user choose this setting... What are the powerusers here using?

Best setting for number of simultaneous encoders?

The default setting is 2. I was wondering what advantage/disvantage a higher number of encoders may have. When should you use what? I use 4 on my mac book pro but honestly, I don't know is that is the fastest setting, it just looks good... :-)) Any ideas?

The tags convert fine but not the cover art. It is not detected in when dragging the file onto the conversion window although the cover art is internal. Is there a solution to this?

Automatic conversion possible with Max?

I keep my audio files in both APE (for lossless storage) and MP3 (for the iPod). I rip to APE first, then finetune the tags. Then I move the APE files to a dedicated storage harddrive. Is there a way for Mac/Max to automatically recognise when a new APE file has been added to a disk an then make an ...
