Re: Burning 24/96 download to DVD-Audio
Your best bet is the 24/96 AIFF in iTunes (I have this same album). Play.app supports the original 24/96 FLAC files, but I don't think that playback is bit-accurate yet. This is unconfirmed. There seems to be no freely-available documentation about the DVD-Audio standard, and so you probably won't f...

Re: SHN files?
I'm impressed that Cog plays SHN. That must have been a bit of work. The problem with SHN is that the software was never written as a library, but as a standalone program. FLAC came after Shorten, and was designed more intelligently. Because FLAC has a library, it is much easier to incorporate FLAC ...

Re: Play fail on FLAC
I realize that this is a late reply, but my Play.app Library is 100% FLAC, and everything works. Whenever I get a new FLAC file, though, I tend to drag the file icon to the Play.app icon rather than double-clicking. It's a habit from when VLC wanted to open my FLAC files. But I just double-clicked a...

Re: FLAC playback on Play and Songbird
I have noticed that Play.app is not always bit-transparent for 16-bit sources at higher sample rates. This may be limited to FLAC, since my Play.app Library is exclusively FLAC. I do have some 24-bit FLAC files, but it's basically impossible for me to know whether they're bit transparent without a l...

Re: Play can't handle Flac 24/192
I recently obtained a 24/192 FLAC (also from Linn Records) and noticed this same problem. However, after decoding to AIFF the problem persisted, even in iTunes. I could not get anything to play the file under Tiger, not even AULab 1.0.3, which should be capable of anything that CoreAudio supports. I...

Where is the Library stored?
I would like to make a backup of my Play.app Library. Where is it stored? Also, is there anything special I would need to do if I lose my current Library and wish to restore from such a backup? I recently went back to using Play.app and forgot how the UI worked, so I mistakenly deleted a bunch of fi...

Re: High Definition Audio
As I understand it, an app has to specifically request these new qualities (mastering quality), and as these are Leopard only, I would like to know if one can use these new converters in an app and still stay compatible to Tiger. It depends upon what you mean. You cannot use the new converters at a...
