Re: Rip vs. EAC

I tried ripping a CD with HTOA, and I've filed a bug about it. The CD rips fine, but Rip doesn't extract the first-track pre-gap. The FLAC file itself plays back fine, but playing the cue sheet leads to all the tracks being offset by the length of the track 1 pre-gap. Bug report here: https://bugs.l...

Re: "iTunes got an error: A descriptor type mismatch occurred."

Just to say, I've just noticed this problem. Normally, I rip to a folder then import the folder into iTunes manually (a hang-over from always dual-ripping to FLAC and AAC). Thought I'd try this out, then this problem! I know the problem could be worked-around with a folder-action AppleScript, but I ...

Re: The new name for Max will be...

I'm happy with Max - it's well known in Mac circles at least. If it has to change, I really liked someone's suggestion of Xam, even if it was in jest. Otherwise, I suppose something which suggests purpose (like Tag and Play do very well) would be the best route. How about Rip, Record or Encode (I gu...

Re: Lossless Files on Portable Player

If you want a lossless format, you're already using the most "widely accepted" format. However, lossless formats are not generally widely supported. Before chasing after lossless formats on a portable player, you should consider if you really need it. If you were to purchase a flash based player, wh...

Re: Query about ReplayGain implementation

Ah, thank you for putting my mind at rest. I was worried that Play was ignoring the ReplayGain tags on these files. I've noticed that some albums sound louder than others, even when they both have RG tags and RG is enabled. I can only assume this is my choice of "Reduce pre-amplification" over "Hard...

Re: Window closing behaviour

I happened to come across a link to Apple's HIG whilst searching on an unrelated issue, so I thought I'd read what it had to say about this. In most cases , applications that are not document-based should quit when the main window is closed. For Example, System Preferences quits if the user closes t...

Query about ReplayGain implementation

Hello all,

Most of my library was scanned using Foobar2000 (0.9 something) before I switched to Mac OS X, and the files seem to be missing the 'Reference Loudness' ReplayGain tag. What does Play do in this case?

Re: Window closing behaviour

If you want Play to continue without displaying the window, did you try hiding the application? Hiding the application is the Mac way to do this since System 7 (1992?). Hide an application with command-H or by switching to another application while holding the option key. This is what I am doing at...

Re: Sort feature request

I started using Play properly today. It took a while to click with me, but Play's sorting is a fantastic feature — one I wish were available in more applications. However, I agree it is not obvious. As I said, it took a while for me to realise what was going on. I read somewhere else on the forum th...

Window closing behaviour

Hello all, I've been a long time Cog user, though I was aware of Play. Since the last time I tried Play, however, it's become far more usable and stable. But... (First: I know this must've been discussed before, even though searching on the forum doesn't bring up a specific discussion about this top...
