There's no standard for flac, as the quality doesn't vary at the different levels of encoding. The higher levels of encoding produce smaller files at the cost of more time to encode (decoding takes the same time whichever one uses). So it's a matter of personal preerence. 6 (or possibly 5) seem to b...

Max is an excellent program, one of the near equivalents to EAC for the Mac. Another free possibility worth looking at is iTunes to cdrdao. Despite its name, it can rip a CD to a .bin image file and then burn a CD from that image file. It is available at http://scriptbuilders.net/files/itunestocdrda...

.cue to .toc

For various reasons, I wanted to create a .toc file from the .cue file generated when I ripped and encoded a CD to oneflac file, using Max 0.5.6. There is a Unix program called cue2toc. Yes, there was metadata. But, as I mentioned, I was using 0.5.6 because of the "can't read TOC" error in 0.6.1. Gojou, you are right. For some reason, the first file I made did not have a file name, so it saved as the invisible file .flac. And then the next one, since .flac was already taken, saved ...

I'm using OS 10.4.7 on a PowerBook G4. I confirm that I have this problem. I've not tried a lot of disks yet. So I decided to rip using 0.5.6. The rip went fine, so did the encoding to flac, and the log reported Encode completed for Various Artists - Multiple Tracks [FLAC] But I can't find the flac ...
