Re: thanks for the info

Is "pathtotrack" just the path to the directory where the files exist, or does this command need to be run and include the file name for each and every track? With over 1000 CDs and probably 10,000 tracks I can't type in the command line for every track. Thanks As far as I remember, it is the path ...

Re: this is a real kick in the kahoenies

The issue that means AAC/ALAC file sharing doesn't work should also mean that these tracks won't play on an iPod Shuffle - other types of iPod should be ok. I don't yet use Max for ripping CDs but came across the file sharing issue with another application that treated the track tag information in a...

One thing I'm not sure about is if "moov" needs to be the next atom after "ftyp".

That is, I don't know if an order of ftyp, free, moov, mdat would work or not - it could be dependent on the size of the "free" atom.

The safest thing would be to always have the "moov" atom immediately after "ftyp".

I've seen this issue before with another application that broke iTunes sharing of AAC/ALAC files. The same issue also means that AAC/ALAC files encoded by Max probably won't play on an iPod shuffle. It is caused by the order of the atoms in the AAC file. If you use Atomic Parsley to display and comp...

I discovered something else when doing some test conversions from ALAC to FLAC. I store cover art in the ALAC files so the Max feature to save cover art with the converted files would be very useful for displaying the artwork in Slimserver. From Slimserver documentation: "Artwork images are found in...

Tags not preserved converting from ALAC to FLAC

I tried out Max 0.6.1 for conversion of ALAC tracks to FLAC because of some advantages FLAC has with the Squeezebox, however certain ALAC tag information does not seem to be preserved. Composer, Disc Number, Total Discs and Comments tag information is present in the ALAC file but missing in the FLAC...

Re: Tag problem opening FLAC downloads

It is possible that Tag doesn't play nicely with files with no pre-existing metadata- but you should only get that error message if the file contains no STREAMINFO block, which would be weird. Could you post the output of metaflac for the file in question? What is metaflac and how do I get the outp...

Tag problem opening FLAC downloads

Tag wasn't able to open FLAC files purchased and downloaded from http://www.somarecords.com The error message was "An error occurred while opening the document "filename". The file does not appear to be a valid FLAC file." Max was able to convert these files to WAV and MP3 without any problem. FLAC ...
