I have forgotten all about this stuff! Yeah, the audio signal usually degrades over a cycle of successive burns and rips because audio CDs have poor error correction relative to the capabilities of data CDs. (Note that audio CDs hold more data than data CDs when full because the data CDs use more bi...

The mockups look great for one reason: there is a single screen where the user can do everything one would ordinarily do. Well, it's an attempt. It seems that all users would want some type of progress list and status indicator (answering the question 'is it finished--can turn off my computer yet, o...

Warning: I've only transcoded RealAudio streams (and haven't tried transcoding the ram files yet). (The two should be the same.) Search for ffmpegX mplayerosx If you can play something with mplayer, then you can save it, too. And, if you can play something with mplayer (it's mencoder works), you can...

Thanks You, sbooth, for a Great Program!

Developers don't always get enough thanks (especially from people sending bug reports or requests). Before Max was released, there was very little I could do with audio on the Mac outside of the iTunes world. Unbelievably, there was no swiss-army knife for the Mac audio world. Having come from using...

Usability: Performing Single Tasks Seems Disjoint?

I've posted a feature request, and, rather than copying and pasting, I'd like to link to it: http://sbooth.org/tracker/view.php?id=133 (Maybe this will encourage more use of the issue/bug/feature tracker.) Does anyone else feel that the process of ripping a CD or converting files with Max is a littl...

I vote for Max!

I vote for Max! Having been in Linux-land for the past 4 years, I there was a lot of activity in the GNOME and KDE mailing lists about naming. Maybe browsing some archives would provide some inspiration. You can go with a generic (descriptive) name, or a catchy name. Max is great because it is short...

Can Max transcode from monolithic image+CUE --> tagged tracks? Currently, when I have a Monkey APE image, I do this: Max (APE->aif) --> [gVIM (correct the CUE sheet/FILE)] --> xACT (shnsplit & FLAC) --> Tag (tag FLAC tracks) --> Max (transcode w/tags and rename tracks with tag info) I haven't tested...

You don't have to delete anything in the CUE files. You simply have to make sure the FILE line is the first line of text. (You may begin the file with spaces, or breaks, but the FILE line has to be the first content.) I've gotten used to dragging the CUE files into gVIM, pressing: i RETURN ESC j j d...
