Re: Can't add Max-generated M4A files to iTunes 9.1.1
The problem definitely wasn't with iTunes. I have since transcoded the same 4,525 FLAC files to Apple Lossless (when originally I had been running a conversion to lossy AAC) with Max, and all but 2 of them were successfully added to my iTunes library. Subsequent attempts to convert the 2 errant file...

Can't add Max-generated M4A files to iTunes 9.1.1
Okay, I've been using Max as my audio file format converter of choice for years, but have now encountered a big problem with the files the program generates. I've got a completely fresh installation of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro, with all Apple software updates successfully applied. Yesterday, I...

Re: Best Optical Drives and Comparison Ripper
1. There is no such list I'm aware of. The best drive, period, for ripping audio CDs based on my experience with many drives many hundreds of discs in various states of health is the Plextor PX-230A 2. The easiest way to check is actually by Googling for information relevant to the make and model of...

Re: Can I convert while seeding?
Sure, you can run conversions with Max while seeding your FLAC files. You may run into problems if two programs are accessing any single file at the same time, but the chances of that are slim if you're dealing with lots of files. If you have some time on your hands and not so many files to deal wit...

Re: LEOPARD Compatibility
Hello Scott, I will get around to installing Leopard again once I know that the specific issues I encountered have been resolved. Most of them are pretty well documented on Apple Discussions (including my own posts) and elsewhere on the net. Or, I would always be willing to move back/forward to Leop...

Re: Enhancement: Don't output hidden files
Interesting point. I'm assuming you've tested that this is actually what happens in this scenario. It would probably explain why I have, in the past, had hidden output files. I used to use a period after track numbers, but in keeping with the iTunes naming/organization scheme we've all become accust...

Re: New User...can't get Max to work?
Hi all, Just downloaded Max (the latest stable version - 7.1) on OS X (10.4.10). When I start Max up, most of my Menus are greyed out, even though I have a CD in the drive (in Finder, the CD is recognized and correctly identified). The Menus that AREN'T greyed out seem to do nothing when I click on...
Re: No Output
Cheers for the feedback, much appreciated. I've enabled viewing of hidden files thanks to TinkerTool but I still cannot see any hidden files, any idea what extension they would be? If I feel brave enough to try to resurrect this problem, I'll post the results here. Otherwise, to the best of my know...

Re: LEOPARD Compatibility
Ah, guess you haven't tried repairing permissions or securely deleting much trash yet, ejecting disk images more than a couple of times, or unmounting external drives only to see them disappear normally from the desktop but linger on for an hour in a Finder window, etc. Web browsing and e-mail activ...

Re: LEOPARD Compatibility
Max is not compatible with Leopard. You can read all about this in other posts in this forum.
I actually decided to abandon Leopard after a week of wasting time with it, so Max is back up and running just fine

Re: No Output
This has happened to me with Max in the past, and my hard drive became gradually full of invisible files generated by the application. I didn't manage to locate them until I connected to my Mac with FileZilla on my PC. If I recall correctly, this happened mostly when trying to output the contents of...

Re: Secure ripping
I'd suspect - but would be very happy to be shown to be wrong - that Max development along this route might well have to be deliberately limited to specific [third-party] hardware. I would second that. For the most part, people using Macs have drives that aren't any good for DAE to begin with, and ...

Re: MAX on Leopard - newbie to mac
This is a huge bummer, most places I purchase music from is in FLAC format and I need to convert it to apple lossless for many reasons. Are there any suggestions of programs to use in the interim? I can't wait a month to listen to music I just purchased. You could keep your eye out for a new Leopar...

Re: MAX on Leopard - newbie to mac
With 600 CDs to rip, I would certainly stick to using your Windows-based PC to make sure that you are getting accurate rips using software such as EAC or dBpoweramp Reference and making sure to use AccurateRip with either of these. Max unfortunately doesn't support secure ripping or drive offsets, i...
