I am still puzzled by this problem. Me too. I'm back to 0.56 until there's a solution. I know (and greatly appreciate) that Max is open-source. Since Stephen can't seem to reproduce the error on his system, is anyone else looking into this? I'd love to help, but I couldn't code myself out of a wet ...

Re: Work-around

That is cddafs (CD-DA file system) at work. It mounts the CD tracks as AIFF files and even makes the CD's TOC available in .TOC.plist Interesting. I didn't know such a thing existed. As far as the issue is concerned though, I've exhausted every option I can think of, so I'm back to version 0.5.6. W...

Re: Work-around

EDIT OF THE EDIT: Okay, I think I got it to work on my machine. As near as I can tell, the winning solution was to uninstall the Unsanity aped in System Prefs. It's an old version, so maybe newer ones would work better, but I didn't actually have any Unsanity stuff running anymore, so I'm leaving i...

One non-audio related benefit is that you can choose how the files/folders are named for the new files. With iTunes you pretty much have to live with Apple's preferences. I assumed that iTunes on a Mac would have used Core Audio, so I'll have to do some listening tests to see if there's a difference...

Just a quick update while researching the CD side of my issue. I discovered the amazing "drutil" utility and started poking around my drive. I won't post all the logs here (but available if you want 'em), but in summary: "discinfo" showed the correct number of sessions and tracks. the discId field s...

I think I'm having the same problem, so I'll post here before I start a new thread. I ripped 2-3 discs the day 0.6.1 came out and didn't have any problems. Since then my iBook has either been asleep or powered off and now I'm not able to rip anything. Max recognizes that a disc has been put in and d...

I don't think Max or iTunes aim to handle high-end processing like that (although I may be wrong about Max). It seems to me that the best solution would be to change the sample rate of the files in whatever app you used to author the files, where they probably spend a lot more time thinking about di...

Potential feature request and questions -AAC Audiobook Files

First of all I need to echo the sentiments of so many other people here and thank the developer(s) for such a wonderful and needed app on OS X. I'm less picky about things than most of the Hydrogenaudio crowd, but ripping/encoding in iTunes just wasn't cutting it for me. I didn't want to go posting ...

I'm going to have to be difficult and do a write-in vote for "Max" as well. While I'm at it I also vote for the icon/logo to remain the same but modify the Tag tool's icon to have more of a "Sharpie" felt-tip look to it. They are companion products after all. :)
