Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

Thanks for the input, maxdb. I've read different opinions regarding jitter and toslink vs USB vs SPDIF coaxial, it seems like everyone has got something to say about this matter :). I can tell you I have no audible distortion in my system, at least, at volumes I can still hear music. The Naim DAC no...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

It seems that every active process in the computer causes a small hit in sound quality (when I enjoy music, I'm in a dark room doing nothing else, eyes closed, listening to every detail... the playback system is VERY good, listening to music on it is very transcendental... and I listen to nothing b...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

"Your logic is flawed" Uh... no, it's not. You're just making baseless excuses. (in fact I've been tested numerous times and only 1 person in 40,000 has equal or better logical reasoning skills than I do... true story... not bragging... I suck at many other things... logic just happens to be one of...

Re: Up to 384 kHz sample rate?

Just an update and correction to what I mentioned in my previous post. Contrary to me belief, I did manage to play a 384 KHz file in Decibel through toslink. The music did arrive to my Naim DAC. I just can't figure out the exact sample rate arriving at the Naim as it only lights a light (rather than...

Re: unwanted pauses in middle of tracks

I'm playing 250 Gb of music via an USB external drive connected to my Mac mini and I was having the unwanted pauses, but tripling the default RingBufferCapacity's value worked for me. I wasn't able to change the RingBufferWriteChunkSize though, as it doesn't seem to recognize the given command via t...

Re: Up to 384 kHz sample rate?

There is also another thing to keep in mind when talking about 384 Khz, which is the fact that most DACs available in the market won't play it and, even if they do, they'll only be able to do it via USB, as toslink/coaxial cables can only carry 192 Khz... at least, this is what I've read a few month...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

To my mind, it stands to reason that Decibel wouldn't necessarily load an entire playlist into memory all at once. It wouldn't take that much for the size of a playlist of, for instance, 24/96 FLAC files to exceed your computer's RAM capacity. It seems only logical to me that Decibel would load the...

Re: Volume control question

Thanks for the reply and info. Small adjustments to digital volume produce no audible loss of detail on my system. The main reason I'm using digital volume control at all is to perform fine volume adjustments for nighttime listening--the volume control on my speakers works in increments that are to...
