Re: fix or workaround needed track order wrong using network hrd

That works fine if you're only dragging-in 1 album. But if you drag in 2 albums or more, sorting on the filename intermixes tracks, so you have to sort on filename then on artist or album name. That works OK only if you drag things in alphabetical order, though. If you import Zombies first, then imp...

fix or workaround needed track order wrong using network hrd

when using a locally connected hard disk, drag and drop files are maintained in proper track order. files are tagged with track numbers and file names all follow the convention: 01 - filename1.flac 02 - filename2.flac etc. so there are 2 chances for Decibel to get the dragged files into the app with...

Re: Order of tracks not maintained when dragging

There are m3u files in some folders, but not in most of them. m3u is one of the playlist file formats. I rarely use any of the playlist file formats and if I do use them, it's when I have a specific group of tracks that are all from different albums. It was so easy to just drop 3 or 4 folders sequen...

Order of tracks not maintained when dragging

I'm using 1.2.11 and will not update to a newer version unless the newer version supports Mac O/S 10.6.7 as I don't intend to move to the next major version. I changed from a 1.5 TB music library hard disk connected via Firewire to a 3 GB RAID Networked music library hard disk (two 3GB hard disks in...

Got screwed up with latest update - need older version!

I use a Mac Mini for music playback and nothing else... the only reason this computer is in the house is to play music. Other uses of the computer are all incidental to playing music (keeping applications up to date, etc.). Today (June 22, 2014) when I started Decibel, a pop-up window informed me of...

Re: Decibel And HDMI audio

Re-reading the previous post, it might not be clear what I was trying to describe... The DirecTV box changes audio formats (over HDMI) with some regularity... for example, when viewing an HD channel, it's common to have commercials switch to 2-channels... the processor "sees" those changes and the D...

Re: Decibel And HDMI audio

The processor does detect stereo HDMI inputs from other sources, like the DirecTV box... if a program happens to be in stereo (rather than DD 5.1 common for HD channels), the processor allows choosing PLIIX or Neo:6 modes. The issue seems to be not being able to get the Mac (Mini) into stereo mode. ...

Decibel And HDMI audio

For high quality music listening I use a USB DAC with Decibel, but for a change or just for fun, I would like to use HDMI audio out to a 7.1 channel-capable surround sound processor. The problem is... the surround processor identifies itself as an 8-channel device so the Mac (an aluminum unibody Min...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

Probably the best thing you could do for your system is to get rid of the Toslink interface... Toslink is really lame compared to any other option. It's a shame really... an optical interface has a huge advantage in that the cable itself is non-conductive so you carry none of the ground noise or gro...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

It seems that every active process in the computer causes a small hit in sound quality (when I enjoy music, I'm in a dark room doing nothing else, eyes closed, listening to every detail... the playback system is VERY good, listening to music on it is very transcendental... and I listen to nothing bu...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

"Your logic is flawed" Uh... no, it's not. You're just making baseless excuses. (in fact I've been tested numerous times and only 1 person in 40,000 has equal or better logical reasoning skills than I do... true story... not bragging... I suck at many other things... logic just happens to be one of ...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

I wasn't expecting to load my entire 1+ TB music library into memory. I was expecting that if I put Decibel in memory playback mode and had maybe 25 tracks in the playlist that the entire playlist would be loaded into RAM and played from RAM without accessing the hard disk storing the music. I use 8...

Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

So... I use a FireWire 800 Library hard disk, USB DAC, Mac Mini (fall 2010, aluminum unibody with internal DVD drive, Intel processor), 8GB RAM, 80GB solid state disk drive. I was doing some evaluation of FireWire 800 cables using memory playback mode in Decibel 1.2.5 (25) and I wanted to see what w...

Re: Poll: Feature priorities

With all the problems happening with remasters/reissues coming out that are nothing more than overly loud versions of previous mixes with digital clipping compromising sonics, it would be nice to have a digital clipping indicator so we know when what we are listening to has been pushed so "loud" tha...
