Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

"Your logic is flawed" Uh... no, it's not. You're just making baseless excuses. (in fact I've been tested numerous times and only 1 person in 40,000 has equal or better logical reasoning skills than I do... true story... not bragging... I suck at many other things... logic just happens to be one of...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

Your logic is a little flawed. What about people who have less memory? Should Decibel always try to load as much into memory as possible, to the point of filling up available RAM? What if loading 10 of those 25 tracks leaves me with no memory, and I need to work on a document or browse the web while...

Re: Playing from cd

First of all, not every CD necessarily has metadata on it (CD Text). Second, many apps don't read CD Text (I assume this includes Decibel). For various reasons, I strongly recommend using an app like Max or XLD to rip your CDs to FLAC (or some other lossless format) for computer play. This will also...

Re: Volume control question

Thanks for the reply and info. Small adjustments to digital volume produce no audible loss of detail on my system. The main reason I'm using digital volume control at all is to perform fine volume adjustments for nighttime listening--the volume control on my speakers works in increments that are too...

Re: Volume control question

Well, I think I've managed to answer my own question from digging around on the 'Net (though I found nothing so nice as a simple, direct answer for my specific case). I'm about 99% sure that the built-in audio on a MacBook Pro performs its signal attenuation in the digital domain, and so a maximum s...

Volume control question

Context: I'm using a 2.1 speaker system connected to the line-out (headphone) jack on my MacBook Pro (early 2011; Intel HD sound card). I understand that keeping Decibel's digital volume at 1 is optimal for sound quality. What I'm wondering is whether the device volume, which is presumably controlle...

Re: Memory Playback - Not exactly what I was expecting?

To my mind, it stands to reason that Decibel wouldn't necessarily load an entire playlist into memory all at once. It wouldn't take that much for the size of a playlist of, for instance, 24/96 FLAC files to exceed your computer's RAM capacity. It seems only logical to me that Decibel would load the ...

Re: unwanted pauses in middle of tracks

On another thread, someone appeared to have this problem when playing wav files (CD quality) from the local hard drive. He solved the problem by tripling the buffer sizes. I haven't experienced the issue in question, but increasing the buffer size was the first thing that occurred to me, too, as a ...

Re: EQ plugin/recommendations?

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but is there an EQ setting in Decibel? I know many oppose EQing, but I have a few things that I feel do need a little bit, so is there a plugin/feature I'm missing, or would using some thing like audio hijack/Boom/something else (recommendations appreciated) be the best way...
