Musepack (MPC)

I notice that, just as an example, Allofmp3.com offers Musepack MPC files and considering iTunes doesn't play them I want to double-check we can convert them with Max...I don't think we can?

This might tell you why. ;)
"FLAC - FLAC decoder and importer for Ogg FLAC (no support for native FLAC file format yet);"
I converted a FLAC through Max to .oggflac and it still won't play in iTunes, QuickTime, or Cog btw.

I've found some more info- AC-3 WAVE files are not really WAVE files at all. They are actually lossy files with a "magic number" in the bitstream indicating their type. Players such as VLC ignore the actual WAVE header when they encounter these streams, which is why they play correctly. QuickTime a...

44khz Dolby Digital conversion

To test Max without the khz being a problem, I got Diatonis Currents in 44khz WAV from the site I posted before. It's in Dolby Digital multi-channel. The FLAC I made with Max was pops and static and didn't register as Dolby Digital. The AIFF I made showed up as a Dolby Digital signal but was the sam...

mac3dec

mac3dec and bd4go i've tried on a non-Intel mac. the archives they are enclosed in don't even open on my Intel mac, they're that old. http://liba52.sourceforge.net/ the bd4go homepage says liba52 is open source and contains the backend work necessary for conversion. so if you are interested in plugg...

48k

http://www.kellyindustries.com/sounds.html These are my reference Dolby Digital files, particularly Diatonis (which is a pretty soothing track by the way). It would take some heavy shuffling of my equipment to test DTS. Diatonis AC3 48khz and WAV 48khz play as 5.1 Dolby Digital in VLC and iTunes. iT...

I'd like to convert these Dolby Digital files into a lossless format like WAV. Hopefully when a receiver is connected to the computer it will still see these WAV's as Dolby and direct the speakers accordingly.

VOB audio

If you own a DVD-Audio or music/concert DVD, there may be Dolby Digital AC3 files included. How could Max convert AC3 to WAV while retaining multi-channel 5.1? I edited this question because I wanted to simplify it and add that Mac The Ripper http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/22715 w...

Rockbox firmware worked on my iPod nano for FLAC (and OGG). I installed via Windows because there's a graphical installer for it there. In the thread "What if..." you can make it clear that FLAC is under-represented on Mac audio playback software and if there's any interest in all in furthering the ...

I'm new to the forum but I think competition against iTunes and its choice of CODEC's is great. Of course the player would then have to sync with iPod?

myAudio

If it's not taken, a name like myAudio which is generic on purpose is appropriate. Frequently I rename programs on my Mac to what they really are, directly, and overall. I.e., Photos, Internet... This pleases me. I'm not a usability expert but I respect Apple's use in quite a few of its computer con...
