I am not sure I would go that far. Max is perfectly fine for ripping to FLAC. I don't use it that away, but I just tried it very quickly, and it didn't take significantly longer to rip to FLAC than to AIFF. I am not posting to diss XLD, but I have never been happy with it. It does offer that ability...
