I find that if I do not click in another field after entering data in a field, then the data entered in that field is not s...

Well, I just ripped/encoded an album (Dreamgirls, 2CD, soundtrack) using Max 0.7. MusicBrains stinks. I am not blaming SteveB for anything, as I understand the issues around music databases. MusicBrainz stinks because: The database does not have enough fields. For example: artist. Who is the artist?...

FreeDB lives
FreeDB appears to be alive.
"It's alive."
So, can we have a choice in Max?

Alternative, YES
From a comment at SlashDot. "I am the author of freedb2.org. It currently supports a subset of the old freedb protocol, enough to rip your CD's. Just point your software at http://freedb2.org/~cddb/cddb.cgi [freedb2.org]. There are also some new features which I will be documenting shortly. For some...

Sithgunner, 0. Start with a CD that you know has cover art on the website you plan to use. 1. Insert CD. 2. Launch Max. 3. Click on the "Album Art" icon and a side window opens. 4. Go up to the main Max menu and select "Compact Disc" and then select "Download Album Art..." 5. Click on "Use Selected"...

arrakian,
I am not an expert, but I looked up AIFF at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AIFF and it does not appear to support artwork as one its "chunks".

I am not having a submit problem, I am having a query problem with FreeDB. I always use the default of CDDBP, Port 8880 and did not have a problem until today. Happened with 2 different CDs. Changed to HTTP, Port 80 and it worked. I found this on the FreeDB website: In the past few days we did some ...

herman, I was somewhat confused. Now, I am not. 1. a. Rip to FLAC for archival purposes. FLAC because it is an open-source standard. I save my FLAC files (along with artwork (i.e., album cover) and lyrics) on 2 separate hard drives. b. Don't save the .wav files. No point. FLAC takes half the space a...
