I have the same speakers but I dont’t get your question in detail. You can use any software with the USB-D/A in the speakers, it’s not limited to Decibel. When you open the Apple Profiler you can check that the speakers identify themselves as Burr-Brown from TI.
Both, the mp3 and flac file format, have a bit to indicate emphasis. I.e. for files which would need de-emphasis during playback. I found neither Decibel, nor VLC or iTunes honoring this bit - is this correct? I created files with lame where you can set the bit with -e from a test CD from Denon wher...

I have an Onkyo ND-S1 as external S/PDIF interface connected to my Mac and this one to a DAC. The S/PDIF interface in the Onkyo can only handle 16 bit and 44.1 resp. 48 kHz.
