using Sony CD/DVD changer with OS X

Post by Sokoban » Sat Oct 07, 2006 9:29 pm

Has anyone gotten one of these to work with OS X at all?

I'd say that would be pretty freaking sweet for ripping CD's. You can daisy chain 5 of them and store either 1000 at a time, or rip 5 at a time.

Portends that has software that controls and batch rips from the unit. I have not tried it. I have a unit on the way that I purchased off of eBay. I should get it in a week. Here is a link the the company:

There is a long discussion about the Sony changer on AVSForum.com. It is mostly windows users but check out post #722 on this page:

This user has a mac and has used the above software to get this to work. I will let you know what I find when I get the unit to test.

I wish that Max would support this unit. It would be the single best feature that could be added at this point. I have 2000 cds to rip at lossless and I would love to Max.

MTX is an option

The mtx project is an option to possibly make this work...

They have a pretty good mailing list too.

Sony has just come out with an updated unit that they are selling for $299 and no shipping (even to Alaska where I live)

I for one would be willing to throw at least $50 in a pot to help finance acquiring one for sbooth if he wished to develop support for the device.
