Itunes won't save info?

Post by Pyramus » Tue Nov 04, 2008 1:19 am

Alright, so I converted a few classical songs from .ape to .flac, and used another program to put the .flac into the itunes program.

However, when I converted the .ape to .flac, it didn't save the original info, and the songs were titled "track 01, track 02" and so on.

So what I did was I went into each song and changed the info in itunes to match the original. And every time I open up itunes again, the info is there.

However, if I ever click on the "info" option of the song again, all the stuff i put into it is gone, and it switches back to "track 01" and even the original artist name and genre is changed back.

Very disheartening/frustrating. Anyone know how to fix this?

Ask the developers of the "another program" to add support for metadata editing through iTunes. ;)
Or use Tag (by sbooth as well), to tage the FLAC files..

Ah well, I used max to convert it to flac, and it didn't save the data when I used max. So I think the problem lies within max, or maybe itunes (for not being able to save my info when I edit it).

If you open the original .ape files with Tag is the metadata shown?

Letsee....

No it is not. The uh, filename thingie has all the info on it. But the metadata doesn't show. It just shows "track 01" and all the other info as stated before.

So...should I change the metadata in the .ape and then convert to flac? or...something?

If there is no metadata in the APE file, Max won't see it. You can edit it with Tag before or after conversion, though.
