AAC Files Won't Convert

Post by thecausticanalog » Mon Aug 18, 2008 6:54 am

So I click on File Conversion and the drop-down comes up, and when I try to select my stupid iTunes m4as or whatever, it won't let me select them. They also are shown in grey, as opposed to the general (I assume) mp3 files, which are in black. I don't know what's going on with that, or how to fix it, but if it can't encode my lossless files into mp3s, it's really pointless software for me to have.

Any tips, help, assistance, etc., let me know. Thanks!

m4a or m4p? m4p is DRM protected and cannot be converted directly.

I'm having the same problem. My itunes is a mix of m4as and m4ps. I know the m4ps won't convert, but I can't get my m4as to convert. Well...NOW I can't. I somehow got one group of them to convert and now I can't. The show up in gray when I try to open them.

Are you choosing File -> Open or the + button on the Convert Files window?

Is there any way to convert m4p's. It seems as though they are the only files that I cant convert. I know that they are protect files and all, but is there anything that I can do to convert them( even if its not direct)?

In iTunes you can burn a Audio-CD from the m4p files. Then you can rip the CD with Max to the desired format.

When you search the web for [ m4p convert "mac os x" ], you will find several applications that combine these steps, usually using a temporary disk image instead of a physical CD as intermediate step.
