drag & drop to icon broken in 0.8 ?

Post by nocturnus2 » Wed Apr 16, 2008 12:56 am

So, one of my favorite things about Max was that I could drag and drop a file onto the dock icon, and this would add whatever I want to encode

now with 0.8, I can no longer drag and drop, I must first open Max and use "Convert Files..." in the File menu.

OS X Tiger 10.4.11, and yes I did delete my preferences before installing 0.8 :)

thanks,
N

That is very strange- drag and drop is working fine for me. What types of files have you tried? Does the Max icon highlight in the dock when a file is dropped on it? Are there any error messages in the console?

for me, drag and drop works after max is opened manually... but i cannot launch max by dragging and dropping to it.

how do i get the console to show, so i can see if there are any errors?

10.4.8
max 0.8.1, downgrading to 0.7 because i hate the new interface, and because of the lack of drag/drop.

Must be something in your system. When I drag a music file onto the Max icon in the Dock while Max is not running, Max launches and adds the file to the list of files to be converted. Try removing the icon from the Dock and adding it again freshly.

(Max 0.81 and Mac OS X 10.4.11)

Well whatever it is, it's common with me and the thread starter?

I remember I had this problem with Photoshop after an archive and install of OS X... i've done no such thing though and reinstalling 0.7 works fine. So it must be something that's changed between 0.71 and 0.8?

What kind of files are you attempting to drop on Max's icon?

WAV files, stereo interleaved.

Possibly 24 bit?

They work in 0.7.x so it's not a file compatibility thing unless you've removed features.
