Enclosing Folder Option Gone?

Post by jyroflux » Thu Apr 10, 2008 12:47 am

In the previous version of Max when I ripped it would enclose the files in a folder named after the album. How can I do this in 0.8?

Preferences>Output>Custom file naming (or some such).

Nope. It's not there. I used to rip my MP3's and Max would create a folder on the desktop named after the album and place the songs in there. I can't make it do that now. It just places all of the files on the desktop.

That aspect of Max hasn't changed much. Have you ensured that your files contain the correct metadata? What is your output folder and naming scheme?

Output files are saved to the Desktop. File naming is {trackNumber} {trackTitle}. I tried changing the parameters, but all it did was change the file name, a folder still wasn't created. I'm pretty sure I've set things up the same way I had them in 0.7.1, but since I uninstalled the prefs, I can't be sure. Also, in 0.7.1 I only used {trackTitle} for file naming.

I just realized I should have said Encode and not Rip in my initial question. When I rip from CD, the folder is created. But when I encode existing AIFF's to MP3, the folder is not created in 0.8 like it was in 0.7.1.

That will not create a folder. If you want the files in a folder named after the Album, the output file naming should be:
{albumTitle}/{trackNumber} {trackTitle}

Which is why I led the OP there, though was not as explicit as you.

So, I'll go further and point out to him that it is / that creates the subdirectory,

OP?

Why not just point it out in the first place?

In forums with unknown folk one always runs the risk of offending/condescending/assuming. In this instance I decided a minimalist approach would do. Obviously I was wrong. But then I might be wrong in this answer, too. Hard to say; I do surely know I could write a bit more right now, but will defer.
