Wrong discID calculation

Post by romste » Sat Jan 05, 2008 12:47 am

Hi

I'm using max 0.8b on OSX 10.5 on a MacBook Pro.
I have submitted a disc to MusicBrainz with "Picard" on Windows and the discID "fyMyCXXqwlMN.cKWVH.wFnmyJrg-" was calculated.
max is calculating the discID "ETXm4Xjy.s.tL7iSCGsWu6FhWIw-" and can't find the disc in MusicBrainz.

I have the same problem with other discs too, they are all discs with additional data (videos an other bonus) on the disc.
I hope this helps you to fix the bug.

So do these discs all say 'Multisession disc detected' in the log? It might be a problem with that type of disc specifically.

I will look into how MusicBrainz handles multi-session discs- right now I am just using the first session for the disc id calculation.

I think you have to add the "lead out", see here:

FYI, I am still seeing this on build 1334. iTunes identifies the disk correctly and neither OS-X nor Windows XP PC show any extras on the disc. The disc is dated 1995, so I doubt there is any copy protection jazz on it either. I'm using a new intel mini and 10.5. Let me know if you want is ISO rip of the disc for your debugging.

log says:
2008-01-27 12:53:47 -0500 Found CD on device disk2

I'm actually getting this error on 1 out four discs in my collection on a new Intel mini.

System Profiler says I have a:
MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8124:

Firmware Revision: DACH
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, CD-Raw
Media:
Type: CD-ROM
Blank: No
Erasable: No
Overwritable: No
Appendable: No

Let me know if I can do any tests. I can patch and build here if needed.

And I have just noticed that these error messages are independent of being able or unable to loop up the CD info on MusicBrainz. I get the error on some discs, but things seem to work work just fine anyways.

The MCN and ISRC comments are nothing to worry about- they are just informational. CDs are not required to have them.
