Disc Drive for Max

Post by arrakian » Thu May 05, 2016 4:06 am

Hi all,
What would be your recommendation for an External Disc Drive for Max on a Mac? I got the LG BE14NU40 by mistake, and it won't recognize it.

What do want to do with that drive? Do you want to rip audio-CDs? Does the LG BE14NU40 play audio-CDs on your Mac? Is iTunes launched when you insert an audio CD? The LG BE14NU40 is an External Blu-ray Disc Writer. It seems to be only partially compatible with MacOSX. Look for drives that play audio CDs and that are explicitly compatible with MacOSX.

I rip audio CDs and movies. The LG had some features I liked, but I didn't know it was a Windows drive. After doing some research on it, I found a very similar drive at OWC.

And why rip with Max? It did it's service but XLD has far surpassed Max in many regards, chiefly its ripping engine.

What's better about XLD? I don't do this often and don't want to waste time on a dead app.
