How to enable logging (versions 1.2.4 and earlier)

In many instances, enabling logging helps me to determine why things aren't working properly. To enable logging in Decibel it is necessary to save a logging configuration file in ~/Library/Application Support/Decibel/. Here is a sample configuration file:

Code: Select all

log4j.appender.logfile=org.apache.log4j.RollingFileAppender
log4j.appender.logfile.File=${user.home}/Library/Logs/Decibel.log
log4j.appender.logfile.MaxFileSize=1MB
log4j.appender.logfile.MaxBackupIndex=1
log4j.appender.logfile.layout=TTCCLayout
log4j.appender.logfile.layout.ContextPrinting=enabled
log4j.appender.logfile.layout.DateFormat=ISO8601

log4j.appender.stdout=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender
log4j.appender.stdout.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout
log4j.appender.stdout.layout.ConversionPattern=%d [%t] %-5p %c - %m%n

log4j.rootLogger=debug, stdout, logfile
If you save that text to a file called ~/Library/Application Support/Decibel/log4cxx.properties then debugging output will be saved to ~/Library/Logs/Decibel.log.
