Rip, like Play, can calculate RG for ALAC files. However there is no atom that is used to store the gain value in the file. Play gets around this by saving the data to its local database. Rip will write the RG values to the log file, so they are not lost, but it is not as convenient. Unfortunately the only way around this would be to write a non-standard atom with the RG values, which by its nature would be not portable (likely only Play would read it).
