Inconsistent files

Post by avta » Sun Sep 27, 2009 7:36 pm

I've been trying the recent version ( Sept. 23, 2009 ) of Rip on my Mac Mini OS 10.6.1 I've noticed an inconsistency in how the files are stored. I'm ripping to flac. In some instances I can double click the folder and it will display all the tracks/flac files. At other times there is only one folder which I cannot open. When I double click the folder Max opens and tries to convert the files. Any one have experience with this type of problem?

What are the names of the files? Can you post the output of ls -lR for the folder in question?

You will have to tell me what Is-IR is and how to obtain it.

You need to open a Terminal window (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal) from where you can use commands like, "ls" to show a list of the files and folders that are in the folder you are in, or "cd Music" for example to go into your Music Folder. If you are in a certain folder, you can then use "ls -lR" to show list like this:

total 0

./Fever Ray:
total 632680

Hope that might help.

The command is ls (LS), Perhaps you used a capital i instead of an L.

so "ls -lR" is "LS -LR" when written in capitals.

Hope this helps...

Sorry for the delay. I've been away. I am able to get a list of items: Desktop Downloads Movies Pictures Sites Documents Library Music Public. My music files are stored on an external HD. I can't seem to get to that. I tried " CD Music " and " CD ( name of HD with files ) " but couldn't access it. Any suggestions? Thanks for your patience.

Your external harddisk can be found under /Volumes, so, if your external HD is called "External HD", you have to use the command:

cd "/Volumes/External HD"

(it's important to include the quotes in the command).

Now you're in the "root" of your external harddisk. You can now cd into the folder that holds your music on your harddisk, and run the ls command from there.

Hope that helps...

Thanks. I'm now able to get a list of all the music folders on the hard drive ie each ripped cd is listed separately but I can't get past there to open the specific folder that is the problem. Any suggestions?
