Can Rip convert straight to MP3 like Max?

Post by djej » Mon Aug 24, 2009 5:13 pm

First off, Stephen, I LOVE both Rip and Max! I've been trying out Rip but didn't see if I could go straight to MP3 like in Max.

In regards to Max, I saw on http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/ that it isn't (yet) compatible with Snow Leopard. I then saw the post that said you couldn't fix it until you had Snow Leopard to test. Additionally, I just didn't know if there would be much more development on Max since Rip may very well be replacing it.

Thank you!

Adding an MP3 encoder to Rip would be trivial- I just haven't done it because I wanted lossless codecs only. However, Rip has a plugin based codec system and creating a LAME plugin would take less than 30 minutes. This is something that I plan on doing.

Any movement on this? I can't use MAX anymore (crashing when trying to click FORMATS tab), and simply want a tool to rip audiobooks to mp3. Thanks!
