Bizarre! Still can't find my resulting FLAC files

Post by elduderino » Thu Dec 04, 2008 10:15 pm

Aright, I installed the latest release, after having completely deleted the earlier app. I decided to just Rip a very clean disc that I own. The logs look fine, they say there are .flac files, but they are nowhere to be found...spotlight doesn't see them anywhere, etc. This is bizarre. The directories for the artist/album, etc. get created on the partition I specified, but the only file there is still just the .log file for the album name itself.

THe volume I have specified to save to is a separate partition on a separate internal drive than my main OS partition. shouldn't matter, but thought i'd share.

Really weird, but I cannot keep testing until I can actually output some .flac files.

Ideas Stephen?

BTW, I just tried switching my output folder to be my Desktop, to rule out that there is somehow a problem saving files to my separate partition. Turns out this didn't work either, same results as earlier, with nothing but the .log file in the properly named artist/album directory.

This is one of the weirdest things I've ever seen.

Here's the last few lines of the log that results in the Console details....should there be additional log entried beyond this when you rip something??? If so, perhaps this highlights the problem..

That is extremely bizarre, because Rip thinks that the files are being encoded to /Users/thedude/Desktop/Maurice Ravel/Ravel - Nojima Plays Ravel/*.flac. I suppose something could be going wrong with the encoding step- maybe errors aren't being propagated back to Rip correctly from FLAC. I'll see if I can find anything suspicious.

Would you be able to go into Rip.app/Contents/PlugIns/FLAC.bundle/Contents/MacOS/Resources and see if the flac and metaflac executables in there run on your system?

By the way, I will do your recommendations, but in the meantime, I tried switching to 32 bit mode...I tried ripping to see if the files would actually show up properly, and this time RIp crashed badly after attempting some c2 error checking of sectors...here is what the console log said:

Is this problem on the same CD?

Nope, I've tried many different CD's...all exhibit the same problem. I even grabbed a perfect condition CD of mine, spotless, and that exhibits the same behavior.

Nuts. I forgot about the other thread and missed the part in your first post here saying you tried a new one.

This is bizarre.
