Rip, "the" ripper...

Post by krmathis » Fri Nov 28, 2008 3:22 pm

Hopefully 'Rip' will be "the" ripper for Mac OS X, just like EAC is "the" ripper for MS Windows. :D
* Secure ripping.
* Pre-gap detection.
* Ability to create and save a log.
* Offset correction.
* AccurateRip support.
* Codecs/Formats as in 'Max'.
* ...

Can't wait!

It already has those features, and then some. One feature that Rip has that no other ripper (to my knowledge) contains is the ability to verify a CD against an alternate disc pressing in AccurateRip.

Now that would put it ahead of XLD (depending on Rip's ripper ?). Since his whirlwind phase tmkk has been quiet and I am unsure of his next steps.

Can you give us info on Rip's rip engine, Stephen?

Stephen. That sounds really awesome!
All the features missing in 'Max', and even some not present in any (probably) other ripper out there.

Is it using cdparanoia III 10.2, an improved comparison ripper, or something totally new?

It uses an improved comparison ripper- I will post flow diagrams of its operation on the Rip website later today or tomorrow.
