FLAC encode error

Post by fido » Mon Mar 27, 2006 12:39 am

I get an error when trying to encode flac with 0.5.6.
"An error occurred while encoding the file...FLAC__FILE_ENCODER_SEEKABLE_STREAM_ENCODER_ERROR"
Did not see this error in version 0.5.5.

Mac OS X 10.4.5
1.83Ghz iNtel iMac
2GB RAM

A few questions to try and narrow the problem down:
  • Are you encoding from a CD or a file?
  • Does the encoder window list the task?
  • Is any progress made?
  • Is an output file created on your disk?
Also, could you try deleting your preferences file and attempting to encode over again? It seems that for whatever reason, people upgrading to 10.4.5 have reported weird problems that are not reproducible on all occasions (see http://sbooth.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=81 for an example).

problem with 0.5.6

Post by chubby_nomo » Tue Mar 28, 2006 5:47 pm

I'm experiencing the same problem with Flac output. After ripping from a cd, I get an error message while a song is being encoded (there is progress and the window list the task). I tried deleting the preferences but that didn't work. Any thoughts?

I experienced this while encoding from a CD. The task is listed in the
encoder window and it gets at least partially through the task. Yes, a file is created in the destination folder I specified.
Trashing the prefs has no effect.
Have used 0.5.6 on a 1.8GHz G5 (10.4.5) without seeing this issue. Didn't run 0.5.5 on the G5, however.
